RITZVILLE, WA - U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) met with the commissioners of Grant, Adams, Franklin and Douglas counties on Tuesday to hear their local concerns. The conversation ranged from health care and cap-and-trade to agriculture and water infrastructure upgrades.

"Your region plays a crucial role in Washington state, especially in our economy," Cantwell told the commissioners. "Thirty percent of our agriculture growth sales comes from these four counties. I am here today to learn what projects are working for you, and what we can do to grow your local economies."

Cantwell intends to work with local officials toward developing the water infrastructure in Eastern Washington, especially with the Odessa Aquifer, creating more investment opportunities and extending the biodiesel tax credit.
