Cantwell Applauds Decision to Protect Critical Orca Habitat
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) released a statement applauding today’s decision by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to protect critical orca habitat along the West Coast from the Canadian border to Big Sur, California:
“Finally, NOAA has taken an important step toward Southern resident orca recovery. I have fought for years to expand critical habitat to safeguard this precious coastal habitat. After today, orcas will have additional protections when they migrate to and from Puget Sound.”
