Cantwell Praises Groundbreaking for New Air Refueling Wing Headquarters at Fairchild

Cantwell: ‘Today’s groundbreaking to replace the nearly 70-year-old Wing Command Headquarters at Fairchild has been years in the making’

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) praised the groundbreaking of Fairchild Air Force Base’s new Wing Command Headquarters building for both the active duty 92nd Air Refueling Wing and the Washington Air National Guard 141st Air Refueling Wing, which represent nearly 4,000 men and women. The project is made possible by $13.6 million in funding Cantwell and Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) supported in the President’s fiscal year 2012 budget.

“Today’s groundbreaking to replace the nearly 70-year-old Wing Command Headquarters at Fairchild has been years in the making,” Cantwell said. “A modernized and efficient building that meets Wing Command’s requirements was sorely needed at Fairchild and could not have come at a better time. Once completed, this state-of-the-art facility will be the new headquarters for both the 92nd and 141st Air Refueling Wings and enhance their joint operating capability. I applaud Senator Patty Murray and all those who have worked over the years to make today possible for these Commands.”
