Cantwell reaction to the President's speech at the United Nations on Iraq
WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) today made the following statement after the President addressed the United Nations on Iraq:
"The President gave a strong and impressive speech to the United Nations. He clearly laid out his objectives and mandates for Iraq. The President's speech emphasized rightly that the United Nations has spoken clearly over the past decade on the need to enforce United Nations Security Council Resolutions demanding that Iraq cease production of and turn over materials related to weapons of mass destruction. Saddam Hussein is not just a threat to America - he is a threat to the entire world; and, as such, we should seek aggressively to develop a global solution."
