Cantwell Statement Following White House Briefing on North Korea
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) joined her Senate colleagues at the White House to receive a briefing on the situation in North Korea. After the meeting, she released the following statement:
“Secretary of State Tillerson, Secretary of Defense Mattis, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dunford, and Director of National Intelligence Coats outlined approaches to addressing North Korea’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs, including how the United States might cooperate with regional stakeholders and allies to find a diplomatic solution. North Korea presents a real threat and we must work to find the best path to peaceful denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.”
