Cantwell Statement on Arrests in Foiled Seattle Terror Plot

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) released the following statement regarding the U.S. Justice Department’s announcement that two men have been arrested in connection with a plot to attack a Seattle military recruiting station.

“Today, all Washingtonians are deeply appreciative of the law enforcement officers who foiled this terrorist plot,” Senator Cantwell said. “I commend the collaborative effort to protect Washingtonians by the Seattle Police Department, the Department of Justice, the FBI, and the Joint Terrorism Task Force.

“These arrests highlight the need for continued vigilance, and the importance of communication between our local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. Today, our thoughts and prayers go out to America’s military, who put their lives on the line to defend our country both at home and abroad.”
