Cantwell Statement on Debt Ceiling Vote

Cantwell: ‘Plan is not perfect, but it will avert default’

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) released the following statement regarding her vote for a compromise debt ceiling plan in the U.S. Senate:

“I voted for this compromise to stave off a default that would have been disastrous for Washington families. This debt plan is not perfect, but it will avert default and take steps to put our fiscal house in order. As this process moves forward, I will continue to fight for a balanced approach that protects Social Security and Medicare and puts our focus on job creation.”
