Cantwell Statement on Martin Luther King Day
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) released the following statement in honor of Martin Luther King Day.
“Today we honor the legacy and vision of a true American hero. Decades later the story of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. has lost none of its power. His vision and strength forced the nation to confront the injustices that pervaded society. His leadership and legacy helped create the diverse and dynamic America of the 21st century and have continued to inspire us to this day.
“As we reflect on Dr. King’s message, it is clear that we must continue to confront injustice. Dr. King transformed America, and we are obligated to continue this fight. Each day, we must continue to work to live up to his vision and fulfill our obligations to one another and to future generations of Americans.”
