Cantwell Statement on USPS Delaying Drastic Changes to Mail Service

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) released the following statement after Postmaster General Louis DeJoy announced he will delay implementation of a number of drastic changes to mail service until after the November election:

"The voices of millions of outraged Americans forced Postmaster General DeJoy to delay further proposed mail service changes until after the election. However, questions remain about whether DeJoy will remedy the massive disruptions that have already been put into effect, and the administration must provide a full public overview of how USPS will ensure timely delivery of mail moving forward. Millions of Washingtonians rely on the USPS to not only vote, but to receive medication, veterans’ benefits, social security checks, and other essential goods and services – especially in the midst of our current health crisis. They deserve answers from the administration.”
