Cantwell Statement on WA State Senate Majority Leader Lisa Brown’s Retirement

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) released the following statement after Washington State Senate Majority Leader Lisa Brown announced she will not run for re-election this year.

“I’d like to thank Majority Leader Lisa Brown for her significant contribution and tireless dedication to Spokane and Washington state over the years,” said Cantwell. “I wish her well in her future endeavors. For nearly two decades Leader Brown has furthered the growth of Spokane and the state while championing the rights of Washington’s most vulnerable.

“I had the pleasure of working with Leader Brown on many initiatives, from turning the dream of a new health sciences center in downtown Spokane into a reality to strengthening and making the state’s Basic Health Plan a model for the nation. Her leadership and remarkable career will serve as inspiration to the next generation of Washington state legislators.”
