Nuclear Workers' Event to be Held in Spokane
Spokane, WA - U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) today announced that the U.S. Department of Labor will help nuclear workers or their survivors apply for benefits under a new federal workers' compensation plan at an outreach event in Spokane next week.
Workers who were employed by Hanford Engineer Works and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and have developed cancer, chronic beryllium, or chronic silicosis are eligible for a $150,000 lump-sum compensation under the Federal Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program. Workers who need help applying for benefits can schedule an appointment at the outreach event by calling, toll free, 1-888-654-0014, or drop in during the hours below.
