Senator Cantwell Celebrates Fourth of July With New Citizens

SEATTLE, WA. - On the Fourth of July, I was proud to attend a special ceremony at Seattle Center in which 433 people were sworn in as our newest American citizens. For many of us, particularly those who were born in the U.S., it’s sometimes easy to take our freedoms for granted. Watching these men and women take their citizenship oath was a stirring reminder that for millions of people around the world, the liberties we enjoy are out of reach. For them, the United States remains a beacon of liberty and democracy. Our nation was built by immigrants, and we are strong not in spite of our diversity, but because of it. I am proud to welcome our newest citizens and neighbors.
