Senator Cantwell told the Afghan women that, "In 1998, the Taliban ordered the closing of 100 private schools that were giving thousands of women the education, training and skills they needed to support their families. I believe that this country, and the thirteen women of the U.S. Senate, want to work with you on helping to bridge the education gap for young women."
