Senator Cantwell's statement on the passing of Senator Paul Wellstone

I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Paul Wellstone, his wife Sheila, his daughter Marcia, his staff, and the plane's crew.

Paul was a one of a kind leader in the United States Senate.

He was a champion and tireless fighter for mental health parity, campaign finance reform, and the less fortunate, always expressing himself with great passion and eloquence.

No one fought harder for the people of Minnesota.

His legacy of public service will survive him.
