Senator Maria Cantwell Names New Communications Director
WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) announced that Jed Lewison of Seattle today joined her staff as Communications Director.
"I am looking forward to Jed joining my communications team," Cantwell said. "His background and experience make him a great fit for my office."
"I am excited to be in this role because Senator Cantwell has had an incredibly strong start in the U.S. Senate," Lewison said. "In just a few months, Senator Cantwell has helped pass campaign finance reform legislation, lead the effort to protect roadless areas, helped ensure federal assistance for the state to recover from the Nisqually earthquake, helped guide the effort to increase funding for northern border security, investigated the events surrounding the Thirtymile fire tragedy, and is now working to protect our security as a member of the Judiciary Committee."
Lewison, who joins Press Secretary Jennifer Crider in Senator Cantwell's press shop, served as Political Director for the Cantwell for U.S. Senate campaign and as Press Secretary for the 1994 Ron Sims for U.S. Senate campaign. Lewison also worked with Senator Cantwell at RealNetworks from 1995-2000 as Director of Electronic Commerce. Lewison has lived in the Puget Sound region since 1975.
