YAKIMA, Wash. — U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., visited Yakima this morning to tour Manhassett, a music stand manufacturing company on Fruitvale Boulevard.
Cantwell talked about the importance of reauthorizing the Export-Import bank in Congress as a means of providing loans to smaller businesses.
Manhassett has received assistance through the Export-Import bank to expand its international exports.
The Ex-Im Bank, as it’s called, was created in the 1930s. Its current authorization expires May 31, and Cantwell and others favor a four-year extension. But she has tried and failed, so far, to move a bill through the Senate that would accomplish that goal.
On Wednesday, she urged a group of blue-collar workers at SCAFCO Corporation in Spokane to voice their concerns.
