PASCO, Wash.  --  Senator Maria Cantwell made a stop in the Tri-Cities to push the farm bill.

The Democrat says it would give local growers more financial help.

Senator Cantwell toured a potato facility on the outskirts of Pasco.

She says the farm bill would promote local agriculture overseas and pay growers back if their crops were invaded by bugs and disease.

The three-term Democrat tells us better conditions for growers could help our state as a whole.

The farm bill is currently being debated in the U-S senate.

Lawmakers are expected to vote on the bill in the next two weeks.
