Cantwell Statement on President’s Disaster Declaration for Washington State
SEATTLE, WA – Tuesday, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) issued the following statement on the president’s disaster declaration for Washington state. The declaration means the release of federal funds to help communities recover from the early-November storms, flooding, and landslides that hit much of western Washington.
“I’m pleased the president has approved these critical funds for Washington state’s hard-hit families and communities. We’ll now work with FEMA to make sure that this federal aid is distributed quickly and efficiently to those trying to rebuild and get back on their feet after this fall’s record floods.”
Counties designated in the president’s declaration include Clark, Cowlitz, Grays Harbor, King, Lewis, Pierce, Skagit, Skamania, Snohomish, Thurston, and Wahkiakum.
